ACKERMAN NAMED 2017 CETRONE AWARD WINNER

Pine Richland Head Coach Jeff Ackerman has been named the winner of the 2017 PBC Dick Cetrone Coach of the Year award.

The Pine Richland 2016-17 season speaks for itself. 28-2 overall record, Section Champion, WPIAL 6A Champion as well as PIAA State Runner-up finish against one of the area’s toughest schedules. Truly one of the best seasons in Pine Richland Basketball history.

The Cetrone Award is named after legendary Sto-Rox Basketball Coach Dick Cetrone, who was the founding father of the Sto-Rox Basketball dynasty, winning 1 State championship, 5 WPIAL Championships as well as 10 Section Titles. Coach Cetrone’s 1983 State Championship team was Pennsylvania’s last 32-0 undefeated state champion. The feat has since been matched by New Castle (31-0 in 2014) and Aliquippa (30-0 in 2016).

Jeff will be presented with his award at the 2018 Pgh HS Classic at Montour High School on January 28, 2018.

PBC DEFEATS OZANAM 159-158 at PBC-OZ SHOWCASE

RJ Bell of Canon McMillan’s put back with .02 seconds left was the difference as the PBC defeated Ozanam 159-158 in the 2nd annual PBC-OZ Showcase.

An amazing showcase of skills was on display for both teams. Josh Creach of Beaver Falls was MVP of the PBC team with 27 points and some gym rattling dunks. Prince Oduro of First Love Academy was MVP of the Ozanam team with 30 points.

Congratulations to Mark Shehady of Hampton for winning the 2017 3 point shooting contest and to Robert Crute of Aliquippa for winning the Slam dunk contest.
