2024 PBC FALL LEAGUES TIP OFF 9-16-24

 

The 2024 PBC Fall League will kickoff with games at Central Catholic High School, North Allegheny High School, Sto-Rox Middle School and Gateway High School September 16, 2024.

FOX CHAPEL DEFEATS CENTRAL IN OT FOR 4A-6A TITLE

Congratulations to Coach Zach Skrinjar and the Fox Chapel Foxes for their 50-47 overtime victory over Central Catholic in the 4A-6A championship game. Fox Chapel completed a 9-2 season in the 31st  annual PBC Summer Championships. 

The championship is the 2nd for Coach Skrinjar and his staff in the PBC Summer League. The championship is the first for Fox Chapel since 2019.

Fox Chapel defeated Penn Hills in the opening round then Montour in the quarterfinals, followed by a hard fought win over Peters Twp in the semifinals. Central Catholic defeated defending champion Moon in the 1st round, then North Hills in the quarterfinals as well as Johnstown in the semifinals to reach the championship game.

NAZARETH PREP WINS SCHOOLS 1ST PBC SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP

Congratulations to Coach Tanya Garner and her staff at Nazareth Prep for winning the 2024 PBC Mid Division Championship with a convincing 53-34 victory over Seton LaSalle.

The Saints defeated #1 seed West Allegheny in the semifinals to make it to the championship game while Seton LaSalle  defeated Hopewell to make it to the finals.

Congratulations to Nazareth Prep on winning the schools 1st  PBC Summer League Championship.

FOX CHAPEL DEFEATS NA FOR 2024 JV CHAMPIONSHIP

Congratulations to Coach Zach Skrinjar and his staff at Fox Chapel for winning the 2024 PBC JV Championship with a convincing 54-37 victory over North Allegheny.

The Foxes defeated Moon in the semifinals to make it to the championship game while North Allegheny defeated Seton LaSalle to make it to the finals.

Congratulations to Fox Chapel on winning the schools 1st PBC JV Championship.

SUMMER LEAGUE SEMI FINALS SET FOR NORTH ALLEGHENEY INTERMEDIATE June 26 and 27

The 2024 PBC Summer League Semi finals and Finals will be held June 26-27 at North Allegheny Intermediate High School and Carson Middle School. The semi final matchups are as follows:

31st ANNUAL SUMMER LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS BEGIN JUNE 24 AT NORTH A

 

The 31st annual PBC Summer League Championships will Tip Off Monday night June 24 at North Allegheny High School.

Teams competed throughout the spring and early summer in 10 gyms throughout the area for the coveted invitation to the league championships. The championships at NA will feature 3 courts going on at the same time featuring Western Pa’s top teams and players!

The Summer League championships have proven to be an amazing sneak peak of the upcoming regular season and are some of the most highly contested games of the summer. The tournament culminates with the “Night of Champions” on June 27, 2024 at  North A where we will crown Summer Champions in the JV, Mid and Big divisions. We will also be naming the annual Wovchko Award winner as Summer League MVP.

The Game schedule for all 3 divisions championship brackets are listed below. Please come out to North A for some AMAZING Summer Basketball !

PBC MOURNS THE PASSING OF LEGENDS HALL OF FAMER GREG BECKWITH

The Pittsburgh Basketball Club extends its condolences to the family of PBC Legends Hall of Fame Class of 2019 honoree; Laurel Highlands and Richmond great Greg Beckwith.

In addition to his great basketball career, Greg also served as a regional Team Manager for Adidas America.

Western PA truly lost one of it’s all time best today, both on the floor and off. Rest in peace my friend.

2024 PBC VARSITY SUMMER LEAGUE SCHEDULES ANNOUNCED

The 31st  annual PBC Varsity Summer Leagues will kick off next week with Varsity games being held at our traditional sites at North Allegheny High School, Cornell High School, Gateway High School, North Hills High School and Central Catholic High School.

The area’s top teams will be playing and we invite everyone out to enjoy the games! The annual PBC Summer League Championships will be held June 24-27, 2024 at North Allegheny High School.

2024 PBC WOMEN’S HALL OF FAME CLASS ANNOUNCED

The Pittsburgh Basketball Club Women’s Hall of Fame committee is very proud to announce the following have been selected to the PBC Women’s Hall of Fame, Class of 2024.

We will honor these amazing, coaches, contributors and student athletes at the Annual Women’s Hall of Fame Luncheon on November 2, 2024 at the banquet room at Rockefellers Grille. More information on tickets will be posted in the next few days.

HOLZER NAMED 24 CETRONE COACH OF THE YEAR RECIPIENT

Upper St. Clair Head Coach Danny Holzer has been named the winner of the 2023-24 PBC Dick Cetrone Coach of the Year award.

The Upper St. Clair 2023-24 season speaks for itself. 22-6 overall record, WPIAL 6A champion and PIAA 6A quarterfinalist. Truly one of the best seasons in recent Upper St. Clair Basketball history

The Cetrone Award is named after legendary Sto-Rox Basketball Coach Dick Cetrone, who was the founding father of the Sto-Rox Basketball dynasty, winning 1 State championship, 5 WPIAL Championships as well as 10 Section Titles. Coach Cetrone’s 1983 State Championship team was Pennsylvania’s last 32-0 undefeated state champion. The feat has since been matched by New Castle (31-0 in 2014) and Aliquippa (30-0 in 2016).

Danny will be presented with their award at the 2025 PGH HS Classic at North Hills High School as we kick off Hall of Fame week at half time of a game to be determined on January 25-26, 2025.
