2018 FALL LEAGUE BEGINS WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 23

The Pittsburgh Basketball Club is proud to host our 24th annual Fall League. This year’s leagues will be held at Central Catholic HS on Monday nights beginning September 24 and on Wednesday nights at Montour, Moon and Ambridge beginning September 26.

A league for small schools (3A-1A) will be held on Tuesday/Wednesday nights at Sto-Rox Middle School.

We are also very pleased to add a JV Fall league on Wednesday nights, also at Moon High School. 

Space is extremely limited! The leagues have practically prebooked to capacity! Each team will play 6 regular season games. Please find the application below.

RODRIGUEZ NAMED CETRONE AWARD WINNER

Our Lady of Sacred Heart (OLSH) Head Coach Mike Rodriguez has been named the winner of the 2018 PBC Dick Cetrone Coach of the Year award.

The OLSH 2017-18 season speaks for itself. 26-4 overall record, Section Co-Champion, WPIAL 2A runners-up as well as PIAA Western Region Champion State Runner-up finish against one of the area’s toughest schedules. Truly one of the best seasons in OLSH Basketball history.

The Cetrone Award is named after legendary Sto-Rox Basketball Coach Dick Cetrone, who was the founding father of the Sto-Rox Basketball dynasty, winning 1 State championship, 5 WPIAL Championships as well as 10 Section Titles. Coach Cetrone’s 1983 State Championship team was Pennsylvania’s last 32-0 undefeated state champion. The feat has since been matched by New Castle (31-0 in 2014) and Aliquippa (30-0 in 2016).

Jeff will be presented with his award at the 2019 Pgh HS Classic at Montour High School at half time of a game to be determined on January 27, 2018.

25th ANNIVERSARY HALL OF FAME CLASS ANNOUNCED

BLAUFELD NAMED WOVCHKO AWARD WINNER AS SUMMER LEAGUE MVP

 

Congratulations to Allderdice Senior Jackson Blaufeld on being named the 2018 recipient of the Edward A. Wovchko Award as PBC Summer League Most Valuable Player. Jackson averaged 21.3 points a game in leading Allderdice to there first PBC Summer League championship in school history.

Jackson will be honored the weekend of January 26/27, 2019 during a game to be determined at the PBC High School Classic during PBC Hall of Fame weekend.

ALLDERDICE DEFEATS QUAKER VALLEY 46-45 FOR 4A-6A TITLE

The 2018 PBC Summer league season ended with an amazing 4A-6A title game between Allderdice and Quaker Valley The Dice both came from behind and held on in the closing seconds to defeat Quaker Valley 46-45 behind Tourney MVP Jackson Blaufeld’s 22 points. QV played the title game without All Summer Championship tourney selection Danny Conlan, who left for family vacation. All Tourney selection Ryan Stowers led Quaker Valley with 19 points, missing a 3-point shot at the buzzer.

QV defeated Shaler and Moon to earn their spot in the title game while Allderdice defeated North Allegheny and Pine Richland to make the finals.

Congratulations to Buddy Valinsky and his coaching staff for there 1st PBC Summer league Championship.

CORNELL UPSETS VINCENTIAN 65-60 to win 3A/1A TITLE

Congratulations to Coach Bill Sacco and the Cornell Raiders as they completed an undefeated summer league season with a 65-60 victory over Vincentian in the PBC 3A/1A championship game. Cornell led at half time 32-23. Vincentian closed the lead to 1 on 3 occasions in the 2nd half but the Raiders held on in the final minutes for the victory.

Cornell defeated Aliquippa in the semi finals while Vincentian defeated Seton LaSalle in the other semi final. Congratulations Cornell on the victory and undefeated season.

 

NORTH ALLEGHENY OUTLASTS CENTRAL IN JV FINAL

Congratulations to Coach Keith Noftz and his staff for winning the 2018 PBC JV Championship with a come from behind 32-31 victory over Central Catholic. NA defeated Moon 50-41 in the semifinals to make it to the championship game while Central Catholic defeated Montour 49-48 to make it to the finals. Congratulations Tigers on an undefeated season.
