PBC MOURNS THE PASSING OF HALL OF FAME COACH RICH SONSON

The Pittsburgh Basketball Club wishes to extend its condolences to the family of PBC Hall of Fame member Rich Sonson, who passed away November 22, 2019 after a brief, courageous fight with cancer.

Coach Sonson was the highly successful coach at Carlynton High School where his teams won both WPIAL and PIAA championships. His coaching garnered him many Coach of the Year awards as well as the prestigious distinction of coaching in Sonny Vaccaro’s Roundball Classic. Throughout his carrer, his teams were always well coached and prepared for every game.

Beyond the many victories achieved on the sideline were the hundreds of lives he touched as an educator. Coach Sonson was beloved by all and will be missed by the many people whose lives were better having his wisdom and guidance.

Coach Sonson was inducted into the PBC Hall of Fame in 2010. Our prayers are extended to his wife and family in this difficult time.

I was honored to call Coach Sonson my friend. Godspeed Coach until we meet again soon.
