SETON LASALLE OUTLASTS CARLYNTON FOR 3A-1A PBC SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP

Congratulations to Coach Mark “Knobby” Walsh and the Seton LaSalle Rebels for their 38-34- victory over Carlynton in the 4A-1A championship game.

The championship is the 2nd for both Coach Walsh and his staff and the 2nd for the school in the 30-year history of the PBC Summer League.

Seton defeated Cornell in the semifinals to advance to the championship game after a 1st round bye. Carlynton defeated Sto-Rox in the 1st round, then Lincoln Park (Blue) in the semifinals to reach the championship game.

Congratulations to Seton LaSalle on the championship game victory.

NORTH CATHOLIC REPEATS AS JV LEAGUE CHAMPION

Congratulations to Coach Jim Rocco and his staff at North Catholic for winning the 2023 PBC JV Championship with a convincing 47-31 victory over Moon. The Trojans defeated South Fayette in the semifinals to make it to the championship game while Moon defeated Fox Chapel to make it to the finals.

Congratulations to North Catholic on winning the schools 2nd PBC JV Championship.

 

30th ANNUAL PBC SUMMER LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS TIP OFF JUNE 26

 

The 30th annual PBC Summer League Championships will Tip Off Monday night June 26 at Montour High School.

Teams competed throughout the spring and early summer in 10 gyms throughout the area for the coveted invitation to the league championships.

The Summer League championships have proven to be an amazing sneak peak of the upcoming regular season and are some of the most highly contested games of the summer. The tournament culminates with the “Night of Champions” on June 29, 20223 at  Montour High School where we will crown Summer Champions in the JV, A-AAAAA and AAA-AAAAAA divisions and rising 9th grade championship. We will also be naming the annual Wovchko Award winner as Summer League MVP.

30th ANNIVERSARY PBC LEAGUE SCHEDULES ANNOUNCED


The 30th annual PBC Varsity Summer Leagues will kick off next week with Varsity games being held at our traditional sites at Montour High School, Moon High School, Cornell High School, Aliquippa High School, North Hills High School and Central Catholic High School.

The area’s top teams will be playing and we invite everyone out to enjoy the games! The annual PBC Summer League Championships will be held June 26-29, 2023 at Montour High School.

2023 PBC SUMMER LEAGUES SOLD OUT

The 30th annual Pittsburgh Basketball Summer League will tip off the week of May 23, 2023 at gyms through out the tri-state area. We will have leagues in the Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman divisions culminating with the annual Summer league Championships June 27-30, 2023 at Montour High School. 

Schedule are being worked on and will be released shortly. As of this writing, the 2023 Leagues are SOLD OUT

 

PBC WOMENS HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2023 ANNOUNCED

The Pittsburgh Basketball Club Women’s Hall of Fame committee is very proud to announce the following have been selected to the PBC Women’s Hall of Fame, Class of 2023.

We will honor these amazing, coaches, contributors and student athletes at the Annual Women’s Hall of Fame Luncheon on November 4, 2023 at the banquet room at Rockefellers Grille. More information on tickets will be posted in the next few days.

PBC KICKS OFF 30TH ANNIVERSARY

The Pittsburgh Basketball Club will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year! What started out as a Summer League in the middle of the Nike-adidas shoe wars of the early 90’s has turned into a community staple that assists thousands of youth of all ages to enjoy the game of basketball.

Amongst the many events planned for 23-24:

PBC MOURNS THE PASSING OF HALL OF FAME LEGEND DICK GROAT

The Pittsburgh Basketball Club extends its deepest condolences to the family of Pittsburgh ICON and PBC Hall of Fame inductee Dick Groat who passed away at the age of 92.

Dick was truly one of the finest multi-sport athletes to ever come from Western PA where he had Hall of Fame careers at Duke University in basketball and of course as a Major League Baseball player with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Rest in peace our dear friend.
