HALL OF FAME CELEBRATIONS POSTPONED FOR MEN AND WOMEN

With an abundance of caution, and after meeting with the Hall of Fame committee and local health officials, we have made the decision to delay our annual Hall of Fame induction ceremonies for both the men and women to honor the class of 2020.

The women’s banquet has been rescheduled to November 6, 2021 at the banquet room at Rockefellers Grille.

The men’s banquet has been rescheduled to February 5, 2022 at Chartiers Country Club

This decision is not an easy one, but is the correct one. Additional time is needed for many to be vaccinated properly from the COVID challenges facing our entire country. We want to host all of the Hall of Famers and their guests in celebration of the highest honor in Western PA basketball.  But at this time, health guidelines simply will not allow us the capacity to properly host the Hall of Fame inductees and their families.

I will post more information as it becomes available. I thank everyone for their understanding in this difficult decision and I look forward to seeing everyone soon! Please stay safe everyone!

Best regards!

OLSH WINS 2020 “OUTDOOR” FALL LEAGUE

Congratulations to Coach Mike Rodriguez and the OLSH Chargers for winning the 2020 PBC “Outdoor” Fall League. For the safety of all, this year’s league was held outdoors using the courts at Kennedy Twp.’s Fairhaven Park and Robinson Twp.’s Clever Park.

OLSH won this year’s championship defeating Canon Mac in the finals and finished their fall season at 8-1.  Also making the semifinals were Central Catholic and Montour. This year’s results will be recorded in our Summer League championship records as we were unable to hold our annual summer leagues.

Thank you to the good folks of Robinson and Kennedy Twp. for prepping their venues so the kids could play safely. Equally big Thank you to the players, coaches and fans at North Catholic, Central Catholic, OLSH, Montour, Hampton, Canon McMillan, Pine Richland and Sto-Rox for their participation and co-operation in honoring all the rules and regulations required so everyone could be safe and enjoy the games.

Outdoor play was quite old school for players, coaches and fans alike. Lots of memories and great stories shared by many coaches and fans during the course of the league. This concept was well received by all and I think it is a concept that we will host again in 2021!

FALL LEAGUE UPDATE 8-04-20

I hope this finds everyone well and safe.

I have received many emails and texts concerning the 2020 Fall League season. Like all of you, we are anxious to return to the gyms and host our annual Fall League. The Pittsburgh Basketball Club is working closely with area athletic directors and school administrators to formulate a plan to allow us to safely return to the gyms for our annual league.

At this time, I ask for everyone’s patience. No decisions have been made in regard to holding the Fall League at this time. Many school districts are still formulating there plans to return students to school safely in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic. Once this is accomplished and the schools are able to safely re-open as well as fall sports being kicked off, a plan to safely hold our annual fall league will be finalized and announced.  This will require everyone’s co-operation!

When it is safe to start the league, we will contact everyone immediately and begin the planning for this fall tradition. I am sure everyone will be anxious to be with their teams and players and get back on the court. Until then everyone, please be safe and adhere to all social distancing guidelines.

SEE EVERYONE SOON!

Coach Cetrone’s 1983 State Championship team was Pennsylvania’s last 32-0 undefeated state champion. The feat has since been matched by New Castle (31-0 in 2014) and Aliquippa (30-0 in 2016).

Bill and Dave will be presented with their award at the 2021 Pgh HS Classic at Montour High School as we kick off Hall of Fame week at half time of a game to be determined on January 31, 2021.

2020 PBC ROUNDBALL CANCELLED

3/15/20

After careful consideration of the ever evolving nationwide Coronavirus pandemic, we have decided to cancel the PBC Roundball and all associated activities scheduled for April 14 and 15, 2020 at the Montour Athletic Center.

We made this very difficult decision in order to protect the health and safety of the players, coaches, fans and event staff.

Under separate cover, we will list and acknowledge the 60 student athletes who were selected to participate in this year’s games.

To all of our basketball community, please be safe during this difficult time. The PBC Roundball plans to return in April 2021.
