PBC ROUNDBALL APRIL 27 AT MONTOUR

NATIONAL ALL STAR GAME RETURNS TO WESTERN PA

This past fall during the kickoff to the PBC 25th anniversary celebration, we honored several greats of Western PA basketball history. All of these players shared many common traits, among them appearing in an annual All Star game at the Civic Arena that featured the PA All Stars vs the USA All Stars.

In the following days and weeks, more people called than I could list  to hold a game that paid tribute to this legendary event of Western Pa Basketball. With the help of Tony DiMaria, LeWay Enterprises and the good folks at adidas, on April 27, 2019 at the Montour Athletic Center, we are proud to host the PBC ROUNDBALL- our salute to this great Western Pa basketball tradition.

In honoring the tradition of the original game, we will host 2 games on April 27 at Montour.

6:30 PM- WPIAL NORTH vs. WPIAL SOUTH

8:00 PM -PA ALL STARS vs. USA ALL STARS .

Listed below are links to the rosters and we are confident that our area’s best will be featured in our local All Star game as well as our PA team against some of the top players from across the USA.

We are honored to be hosting future players for Pitt, West Virginia, Duquesne and Robert Morris. Join us in welcoming our area’s stars of the future to Western PA.  A slam dunk contest will also be held between games.

Tickets are only $20.00 and may be purchased in advance by calling 412-506-7978. We are expecting the game to sell out.

There will never be another Roundball like the great games hosted by Sonny Vaccaro. They were virtually previews of future NBA All Star games. That said, we think we are hosting some outstanding local and national talent and we are hoping this evening of basketball that pays homage to a great tradition of Western PA allows the region the opportunity to again host a national All Star game.

Lets sell out Montour and show the basketball world we can support a national event!

PBC BLANOCK COURAGE AWARD WINNER ANNOUNCED

The Pittsburgh Basketball Club is very proud to announce the winner of the 2018 Luke Blanock Courage Award is Bryson Ackerman.

Bryson is 6 years old and is in the 1st grade in the South Fayette School District. He is one of 3 children in Western PA that have been diagnosed with Acute Flaccid Myelitis, or AFM. It affects the body’s nervous system, specifically the spinal cord, and can cause paralysis.

Bryson has worked every day to recover in rehab at levels to make any adult beam with pride. He improves each and every day and we are honored to award Bryson the Luke Blanock Courage Award. Bryson WILL defeat this condition.

Bryson will be honored at center court after the Pine Richland- Canon McMillan game on Sunday January 27, 2019 at the 2019 Pittsburgh High School Classic. The game will tip off at 1:30 PM

The Luke Blanock award was founded in 2016 for members of our basketball family who have staged a battle in a game far greater than a basketball game.

The award was appropriately named for Luke Blanock of Canon McMillan High School. Luke’s strength and perseverance while battling a rare form of cancer serves as an example to each and every one of us that life is to be lived to its fullest every day.
