PITTSBURGH BASKETBALL CLUB INITIAL WOMEN’S BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME ANNOUNCED

 

The Pittsburgh Basketball Club is proud to announce our initial Women’s Hall of Fame Class.  We are honored to announce the following have been selected for the PBC Women’s Hall of Fame class of 2017. Selections were made in the Legends Division, Coaches Division and Contributor’s Division.

The 2017 Women’s Legend’s Inductees include:

KATIE BULGER – Oakland Catholic High School and West Virginia University

MEG BULGER – Oakland Catholic High School and West Virginia University

SHANNON DAVIS –  Sacred Heart High School and University of Pittsburgh

KAREN HALL – Mt. Alvernia High School and UNLV

MOLLY LARKIN – North Catholic High School and Delaware University

MONIQUE Mc COY – Penn Hills High School and West Virginia University

PAM MIKLASEVICH –  Franklin Regional High School and University of Pittsburgh

We will honor our initial Women’s Hall Of Fame class with a Hall of Fame luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at Rockefellers Grille in Kennedy Township.  Limited Banquet tickets are available for purchase. Individual tickets may be purchased for only $35 or a table of 8 may be purchased for only $250.00. UK COACH CALIPARI HEADLINES PABCA CLINIC AT MOON HS 9-23-17

 

The Pennsylvania Basketball Coaches Association will be holding there 1st annual clinic September 23, 2017 at Moon High School.
 
The clinic will feature USA Basketball and Mt. Lebanon Coach Dori Oldaker, Robert Morris Head Basketball Coach Andy Toole, new Duquesne Head Coach Keith Dambrot and the guest speaker is Moon High School graduate and University of Kentucky Head Basketball Coach John Calipari.  The clinic will begin at 9 AM.

LUKE COCHRAN NAMED WOVCHKO AWARD WINNER AS SUMMER LEAGUE MVP

Congratulations to Luke Cochran of Highlands High School who was named the winner of the 2017 Wovchko Award as the PBC Summer League MVP.

Luke averaged 18 points a game as he led Highlands to thrilling playoff victories over Seneca Valley, Seton LaSalle, Ambridge and Allderdice on consecutive nights to secure Highlands 1st Summer League Championship in the legendary Pittsburgh Basketball Club Summer League.

Luke will be presented his award at the Pittsburgh High School Classic January 28, 2018 at Montour High School during PBC Hall of Fame weekend. The Wovchko Award is proudly named after former Cornell Head Coach Ed Wovchko

2017 FALL LEAGUE BEGIN OCTOBER 2-5 2017

The Pittsburgh Basketball Club is proud to host our 23rd annual Fall League. This year’s leagues will be held at Central Catholic HS on Monday nights beginning October 2 and on Wednesday nights at Montour, Moon and Ambridge beginning October 4.

Space is extremely limited! The leagues have practically pre booked to capacity! Each team will play 6 regular season games. Please find the application below.

2017 FALL LEAGUE APPLICATION

HIGHLANDS SURVIVES ALLDERDICE COMEBACK FOR 37-33 WIN

Congratulations to Coach Tyler Stoczynski and the Highland Rams on there 37-33 victory over Allderdice in the 2017 PBC 4A-6A championship game at PBC Night of Champions at Montour.

Highlands raced out to an early 21-4 lead only to see a resilient Allderdice team battle back to tie the game at 31-31 with 3 minutes to go in the game. Several Highlands defensive stands in the closing moments secured the victory in the final moments.

The championship game appearance was the 2nd for Highlands since 1999 and there 1st championship in the 23 years of the PBC Summer League.

KEYSTONE OAKS COMES FROM BEHIND TO DEFEAT CORNELL IN 3A-1A TITLE GAME

Congratulations to first year Keystone Oaks Coach Phil McGivney on there 53-44 victory over the Cornell Raiders in the 3A-1A title game.

The lead went back and forth the entire game. Cornell led 41-38 with 7 minutes to go in the game where Keystone Oaks closed out the game on a 15-3 run to seal the victory.

The championship is the 1st title for Keystone Oaks in the PBC Summer League.

MOON JV DEFEAT SENECA VALLEY IN OT TO CLAIM 2017 JV CHAMPIONSHIP

Congratulations to Coach Tony DiFiore and the Moon Tigers for there exciting 58-57 overtime victory against Seneca Valley in the 2017 PBC JV Championship game at the 2017 PBC Night of Champions at Montour.

The game was tied 46-46 at the end of regulation where Moon pulled away in the closing seconds with a basket with 5 seconds secured the win. The victory is the first JV championship for Moon Area in the PBC.

MOON FRESHMAN WIN TITLE

Congratulations to Coach Tony DiMaria and the Moon Tigers for there 60-52 victory over Seneca Valley in the PBC Freshman Championship game at PBC Night of Champions.

The win is the 2nd Moon Freshman League championship in the past 3 years.
