PBC ANNOUNCES FLENORY AWARD AS WESTERN PA’S TOP GUARD

The Pittsburgh Basketball Club is proud to announce the formation of the Baron “BB” Flenory Award for Western Pa’s Top Senior Guard. The award is named after the great Baron “BB” Flenory.

Long considered one of Western Pa’s top guards, BB was a prolific scorer at Valley High School scoring over 1800 career points. He was honored with All WPIAL and All State honors. He was selected as a starting guard on the Pennsylvania team in Sonny Vaccaro’s legendary Dapper Dan Roundball Classic. BB topped his great prep career by being one of only 13 Western PA natives to be named to the elite Parade All America team.

BB continued his basketball career at Duquesne University where under Coach Mike Rice, he was one of the top performers in the history of both Duquesne University and the Eastern 8 Conference. BB remains one of the top scorers in Duquesne’s illustrious history, where his pre-3-point line career 1,382 points still ranks him amongst the schools top all time scorers.

The Pittsburgh Basketball Club is honored to create this award for one of Western Pa’s all time best. A watch list for guards under consideration for this annual award is being developed with area High school coaches and local media. The 1st annual Flenory Award will be selected at the completion of this year’s High School season and given in April 2024 at the 1st annual PBC Awards Lunch.

More details of this event will follow. The Forward and Player of the Year Award details will be announced shortly.
